JGD-BizElite Updates to Version 1.6
If I haven’t posted for a while it is because I was updating some of my WordPress themes. Specifically, I was making major updates to this blog’s theme and to the subject of this post– JGD-BizElite.
The theme, first has a new home page, which is now a WordPress page instead of a post. Secondly, I did say back in a 2021 post that I was ending official support for this theme and Urban Square. However, when I was updating the development theme’s build tools, I thought the theme could use some modernizing to meet accessibility standards.
Adjusted Color Palettes
While I was at it, I decided to apply new color palettes for each color scheme, involving more consistent colors via color ramps. Even though I didn’t use this article when creating the color ramps, the article How to create a color ramp used in design systems explains the concept well.

This resulted in slight color shifts, especially for accessibility concerns, but the theme still looks essentially the same.
The Future for my free WordPress themes
For JGD-BizElite, beyond the latest update, will be performance improvements, such as converting jQuery based JavaScript into vanilla JavaScript. This will be coming later because…
The next theme I will be working on is The M.X. This theme is more in need of a major overhaul. Keep in mind, the look of the theme may not change at all, but the underlying technology will. Specifically, removing skrollr.js, as these types of animations can be done with CSS nowadays.
My plans are to update all of the .org themes, then move on to the others. I’ve even considered converting my Sandbox child themes to BlankSlate based themes, but that is further down the line.
Conclusion
I want to thank everyone who uses my themes from the bottom of my heart. I know there was a recent major issue with Mixin’ Styles- GB. I sincerely apologize for this. I fixed the build tools for this theme to ensure that this will not happen again.
Having said that, look for updates for my other themes coming relatively soon. Thank you.
