Upcoming Theme: Urban Square

A new theme available for download will be coming soon. It’s titled Urban Square. This theme will be my best effort yet. Offering a responsive layout and using a mobile first approach to design, it will have many customization abilities.

Blog owners will be able to change the color scheme behind headers, sidebars and menus independently. Also, the color changes will use WordPress Customizer’s Color Picker, letting users choose any color they desire. In the future, I may offer tutorials on using Color Scheme Designer with this feature.

Urban Square will also have Custom Header and Custom Background. Custom Headers will have three display options: Responsive, Fixed and Repeating. In addition, the theme will offer “retina” screen capability, automatically creating 2x sized image thumbnails for high definition screens. This option can be turned on in the Customizer, or off if a user wants to use a plugin instead.

Below are screenshots of different looks (including default) that can be created with Urban Square in various screen sizes.

I plan to submit this theme to wordpress.org. Hopefully it will get accepted. Either way, it will certainly be offered here. Stay tuned as the theme will be coming soon.
